Getting started & fit
What do your website design services cost?
The short answer: Our prices depend on so many factors, it’s difficult to say in one paragraph. We will need to chat with you to determine your required branding, web design aesthetics, features and functionality and then we can provide you with a formal written proposal. Avoid any web design agency who can answer this question without a proper discussion.
What type of businesses do you work with?
Our highly acclaimed work covers many business sectors including outdoor industry, conservation, eco-friendly, sustainable, nature, restaurants, arts, film, media, publishing, institutional, non-profits, B Corps and many more.
Who is an ideal client for Planet Media?
We welcome small to mid-market B2B or B2C companies that have limited internal resources and need their brand or website to be designed or require ecommerce, online shopping and digital marketing services.
Do you accept every client?
Creating a brand and a website is a big endeavor for all sides of the partnership, requiring both the design studio and client to have synergies and common goals and values for the project to be successfully launched. We are intentional in who we partner with, and if we don’t feel we’re a good fit, we’ll tell you so immediately so you can find your best fit for a design studio.
How do we get started?
Every new project starts with a free discovery session, by phone, email or video, whatever suits you. Call 303-653-9855 or use the confidential contact form on this website.
Payment & billing
Will I receive a formal agreement before we start?
Yes. Before any work begins you will receive a proposal and a service agreement outlining the scope, timeline, and payment schedule. Both parties sign before we kick off.
When is payment required for your services?
We work on a 3-installment payment structure to keep things clear and manageable for both sides:
- 50% upfront to kick off the project
- 30% at the second delivery milestone
- 20% before final launch, migration, or handover
No project will be migrated, published, or handed over until the final payment is received. This applies to new websites, redesigns, plugins, integrations, and any additional work outside the original scope.
Do I need to pay before my website goes live?
Yes. Full payment must be completed before we proceed with the migration, launch, or publication of any website or project. This applies to new builds, redesigns, and any additional work outside the original scope.
Why is payment required before migration?
Once a site is migrated and live, our ability to ensure timely payment is significantly reduced. To keep the process smooth and professional for both sides, we require payment to be settled before we take that final step.
What counts as going live?
Migration to a production server, domain connection, public launch, or any action that makes the site accessible to the public.
What payment options do you offer?
ACH direct deposit, company check and/or credit cards are accepted. All projects require a downpayment of 50% to start.
How do I make a payment?
We will send you an invoice with payment instructions. Once payment is confirmed, we will schedule the migration or launch immediately.
What happens if a payment is delayed?
Work pauses until the outstanding payment is received. Timelines and delivery dates shift accordingly. We will notify you as soon as a payment is overdue so we can resolve it quickly.
What if I only need a small update or addition?
For work outside the original agreed scope, such as additional features, migrations, or integrations, a separate quote will be provided. Payment for that additional work is also required before it is carried out.
Is there a refund policy?
Work completed to date is non-refundable. If you decide to stop a project mid-way, you are responsible for the installments already invoiced based on work delivered. Any prepaid amount beyond what has been completed may be credited toward future work, at our discretion.
What if I need to pause or cancel the project?
Let us know in writing as soon as possible. Pauses of more than 30 days may require a restart fee to re-onboard the project. Cancellations are billed for all work completed up to that point.
What if there is a dispute about the work?
We are always happy to discuss concerns before payment is due. Our goal is to deliver exactly what was agreed. If something is not right, let us talk about it before the deadline, not after.
Your website & process
What CMS do you use?
The majority of our websites are developed using WordPress or ExpressionEngine. While we may not be able to work within your existing CMS platform, however, we are able to redesign your site while retaining your existing company brand or give you a completely new image through a redesign.
How long will it take to complete my project?
The timescale of a website design project is often dictated by the client. If you have a deadline in mind we will make every effort to meet it for you. The most common delay in the creation and completion of a new website is waiting for content (text) to be sent to us by the client. For most projects, we try to work within a 6 - 8 week time-frame.
Do you source photos for my website?
Yes. We will help you source stock photos from sites such as AdobeStock and iStock. We also have photographers available to produce custom photography and videos for your website.
Do I own my website?
Yes. All photographic treatment, design, development and code will be 100% owned by you upon receipt of your final payment.
How do I update my website?
You will be able to update your website via a content management system (CMS). We work with a number of CMS platforms and your website CMS will be determined by the desired features, functionality and level of complexity.
Will my website be search engine friendly?
All our websites are created with search engines in mind and the website design is compliant with search engine guidelines. It is a good idea for your website to be re-evaluated in time as over a period of time the search engines do alter their rules and algorithms and you will want to be certain that your website is kept up to date and complies with new rules etc. To gain maximum visibility by the search engines, we highly recommend utilizing our comprehensive SEO services.
Will my website be mobile friendly and responsive?
Yes. All of our websites are fully-responsive and will display properly on smartphones, tablets, notebooks and desktops as well as the major web browsers.
Do you redesign existing websites?
Yes. We can redesign your site retaining your existing company brand or we can redesign it to give you a complete new image.
